Initial Weber Jet Size

Hi Everyone,

I searched through all the weber posts (there are a lot!) but I couldn't find any recommendations for what jets to start with.

I just got a used 32/36 and plan to open it up for a rebuild and to see what size jets are in it. Any idea how to check the float height?

My truck ('89) is stock but I run with an open (missing) exhaust. It basically ends where the cat used to be.

I also plan on machining my own carb adapter. I haven't pulled the stock carb from the manifold yet so will do most of the machining based on the stock carb gasket.

Thanks!

If the carb came off the same type of truck as yours and they bought it for this specific application, you should'nt need to change any jets! Although, I've been told, the jets may need to be changed due to fuel altitute, and weather, etc.

I have a float diagram, I'll get it posted up for you in the techie section. If the carb came with the adaptors for it, I would'nt bother making new ones. Check to see if they are trued and sand them down with 180 grit.

I work pretty soon, so when I get off tonight, I will definitely PM you to check out the float diagram in the techie section...

Hi Tweaker and HeX.

The auction said it came off an '85 Toyota 4x4. But I don't know if a previous owner changed things.

It didn't include any adapters, but I like making parts anyway.

Appreciate the float info. I've been told the float can get out of whack during shipping.

BTW HeX: WHO is that in your avatar picture!!!!!

Thanks!

Oh, a 'yota? Okay, makes sense... Well, good luck on fabbing adaptor plates! I have an import store here in my city that sells rebuild kits, they come with adaptor plates and gaskets, etc. I would look into it if I were you.

You will probably have to change the jets. But try it out first! You then would have to buy a jet kit, which is almost $80, I believe?

Well I posted up a float diagram in the tech section, check it out! I hope its big enough to read... If not, copy it and blow it up in an image program.

Hmm, I don't see it in the Tech: Diagrams area? Am I looking in the wrong place?

I can get single jets rather than a whole kit at a local shop. Back in my Rx7 days I used weber jets to replace the ball & spring oil nozzles in the eccentric shaft.

I've seen adapters for about $45, but thats too easy.

Thanks!

Yea, most of the time the shops will only sell you individual jets... have'nt found one yet that sells the kit! Except Weber sells the kit!

Well good luck with your fabbing then! lol
