how hard is it to hook up a megasquirt and getting running, is it realistic for a daily driver.

Also i have no idea about car computers they are a mystery to me lol

it would be a fe3 motor that i'll get once i've learned enough

from my research they basicly build it for your motor thats why it takes like a month or so to get it then you plug it up to your comp and use the program they send you to tune every aspect of engine opperation..advance, retard, duration of spark, timing of injectors, pulse witdh, ect.ect.. i think with a megasquirt you need to run a fuel pump controaler to regulate fuel pump voltage....i think someone on this site has a map for that motor im not shure who it is tho...search for megasquirt map mabe something will pop up

I have the megasquirted mazda fe3 b2200 truck.

I have a fuel and ignition map for the ms2 with Ford edis ignition.

My truck could be a daily driver- but I don't drive it everyday just yet- it's been in hibernation for the winter too-

how hard was the swap did you do anything special how much hp u make i know lotsa questions lol just that i can get a fe3 with 30,000 km for $800 with complete harness

if it has the complete harness, you shouldn't need the ms2...& @ $800 that is a pretty good deal.....

You CAN use the kia harness and fuel computer- but I would not recommmend it. Kia had ALOT of problems with their engine harnesses failing- causing intermitent driving problems/ running problems. The stock KIA fuel computer will limit the engines output severly from what it's potential is. Keep in mind too- that if ANY of the the emmissions devices or any sensors are not present/ not operating correctly- the computer will have a fit and go into retard mode. I would not recommend the kia system- just imagine how you are going to have to wrestle all that wiring harness around and try to make it fit into your mazda truck- you will have wires everywhere!

I did i write up on this swap in the forum a few months back- I'll repost it if needed.

I estimate I'm making 155-160 horse- based on the engines capabilities and what I've got it running with.

Believe me- the power is unbeleivable- 86 horse power is what the stock mazda b2200 motor is- so basically you almost double the horsepower- and increase redline to 7 grand. It makes the truck really fun to drive. I own 5 mazda trucks- and you can definately tell the when you get behind the wheel of the truck with the fe3- acceleration and power are awesome.

how hard was the harness to make ?? would you build another one for cash??

whityb-

The megasquirt harness can be purchased pre assembled- from megasquirt to your snsors- but the sensor wires are all open end wires- ready to be connected to sensors. With a Relay board- it'd be pretty easy to wire one up.

I'll compare it to installing a cd player in your dash- it's approximately the same number of wires- 12-16 total, and everything is marked and labeled, just a matter of hooking it up- it really is that easy to wire up. I don't think making a harness and trying to sell it to you would be a good idea- simply because I don't know where you are going to try to run this harness through the truck- where exactly all your sensor would be positioned- etc etc. It's best to just run the wires and connect them as you go-

Trust me- this is a whole lot easier than trying to wrestle around a brittle dirty flawed guttless kia harness with who knows how many rediculus connectors and riddled with emissions BS crap. You'll thank me later for getting MS-

ok i'm just getting paranoid as i get closer to putting it in that i want it to go in as smoothly as possible i hope it's easy as a cd player got ? any pics of your engine bay?

pk then what wires do i need and what sensors should i ask for do i need a wideband 02?
