Holy crap! Guys, I'm done doing that again! What a pain in the gluteus maximus! Took me all day today to replace the heater core! Mainly because of the fact the replacement did'nt match my original... I counted how many times I assembled and re-assembled the heater case; 5 TIMES! Oh, wow... I sure did get one hell of a headache afterwards, lol!
And after all that, I realized you did'nt need to take it apart! You can pull the core out of the casing without taking it apart! I've been fatigued all day, so I was'nt thinking straight... You need to pull the case out of the truck though...
And to top it off, the replacement hoses the guy gave me from schucks were too big! So I had to rig the clamps so it would'nt leak! Oh, man... I'm really glad its done and over with! Atleast I won't have to worry about my heater core going out on me now! For $75 you can get a brand new one. Not worth the money, IMO, but its not like you can make one at home!
I would like to see about making sure my blower motor is in top shape. Is there anything I can do to see if its running good? Since I already have the dash out and all...
When I pulled the core, it was NASTY! No leaks or anything, but about half of it was clogged with a gummy substance. Lots of little dried leaves and all.. Just real icky! Wonder what a new core will be like! Maybe I'll get heat! Lol...
Well, I can try and get pics up for you to see, but I WILL NOT pull the heater assembly! lol. It takes 7 bolts to remove it, and you disconnect the hoses from the firewall in the engine bay. I think I've wasted about half a gallon now pulling it a billion times, lol!
I'll post up pics of my inside of the cab through the whole process of my project I will be undertaking. Just give me some time, and you will see!
I've pulled the dash before, so it was'nt so bad doing it again, lol. But now that I have may alarm system its going to be a little harder to re-install! I think pulling the dash was the worst part of all this!
Dynamat, here I come!
