hey, i just got my mazda out of the shop for a blown head gasket. this was the third time in a year that it blew so i was like, wtf? the radiator is new, thermo is new, and the head was new...

the shop called me mid fix and said that it needed a valve job... i'm like okay, do it.

so i get up to the shop when they call and say its fixed... they say the reason its over heating is the fan clutch is out...

does that sound right?

also, the thread title... abt how much HP/Torque would an electric fan give me? how would i wire it? what temp on the thermo should i buy?

btw, the truck is a 92 B2600i...

has powdercoated parts, new head, valves, gaskets, radiator, thermostat, and plugs, cap and rotor...

could the cat be plugged?

Flexalite makes a wide assortment of fans in all shapes and sizes.I have a single 13 inch pull thru fan on my 2200 and it works fine, even with my A/C running. Most guys here run a couple of 10 inch fans one push and one pull thru. The probe for the fan fits thru the radiator under the top hose and u can adjust what temp u want the fan to come on.U get rid of the weight of the stock fan and clutch plus the rotating mass.I dont really know if u pick up much hp or torque, but if any it would be minimal.BJ

i have dual 12" fans infront of my rad behind the grill and i've been running them off a key on hot for idk hot long, key on hot means that as soon as u turn ur key on there on and they stay on till its off, a termo switch is the better way to do it but i never got that far, lol

I used to run a Flex-A-Lite Black Magic #150!

They are kickass mang!

They can be used as a puller/pusher and they just use a temp probe in the radiator fins and of course a hot lead/ground!

I ran mine with a Variable Speed Controller also by Flex-A-Lite, and it works well and doesn't spike the charging system when cranking over! And runs for an additional 30 sec after shut down the engine....its spendy but way worth it!
