Driveshaft help

I have a b2000 and i just cant find a way to get the driveshaft out. Is there a little trick? or maybe so clips? I need some help really quick thanks

4 bolts that mount it to the axle and 2 bolts that mount the carrier bearing. then just slides out. make sure you have the truck blocked good first.

The carrier bearing is what hold on the tranny but I just want to get the driveshaft out. I unbolted it from the rear end already and it wont slide out

Is the drive shaft a 2 piece or 1 piece. If it's a 2 piece the carrier bearing is half way back and that needs to be unbolted before it comes out.

I have a 1 piece driveshaft. I need to get it out asap so I can do my backhalf and get it on the road in a month

If it still doesn't come out it my be bolted into the back of the transmission input shaft. I had another truck and I had the same problem so I got back under and found I had to undo 2 more bolts that held the ujoint in then had to undo a large nut to get the yok out. But without a pic of the back of the trans I can't be sure you have that problem.

note, before you pull the driveshaft, you need to mark the ends to make sure you put it back in the way it came out, otherwise you will have some nice vibrations going on......

ya but his problem is still trying to get it out of the truck.

true, but he didn't specify what year, one can assume (you know where that gets you) that it is an 87 by his name, but still didn't say if it is a reg cab, cab plus or what.
i don't know of the 86-93's having one piece driveshafts....

not to mention that


the tranny is held in by the tranny's cross member, out of the tail of the tranny the driveshaft goes @1'-2' there is a round collar (carrier bearing) even with the back of the cab, then the 2nd piece connects to the pinion on the diff carrier......

now if there isn't a carrier bearing, then it is a custom shaft, you will need to pull the front u-joint, which you will need a set of c-clip pliers and remove the c-clips from the joint, and the d/s ought to come out as you already have the back end undone.....no need to remove the yolk from the tranny if you disconnect the u-joint.
