its the hydrolic lifters...they tick on all of our trucks..just drive it.not much can be done.....you would need to replace.rockers lifters and the cam to cure it properly

This tick isnt normal I know of the mazda tick curse this one I hope is fixable... what if I glued a peice of something to the bottom of the arm so when it hit it is softer would that mess anything up? HAHA just an idea I had... Might be dumb might work =.;..

Tickin' CANNOT be stopped permanently! Our trucks run hydraulic lifters. The valve lash adjusters are the cause and the only way to remedy the tick is to get a 2.0 head. I seldom have the tick, and a way to minimize it IMO, is to get less thicker oil.

the lifters are clogged, thats why they tick, u can try to pull them out and clean them or just replace them, or give it a few engine flushes it might work

i dont know if i would want to put new lifters on the same ol cam.. general rule of thumb if you replace one of two moving parts that touch you must replace the otherone. otherwise premature wear will most deffinatly occur....but if you arnt planning on keepin the thing FOREVER then yea new lifters would help.. but try thinner oil first

Lifters tick for a couple of and varnish accumulates in the small oil hole and results in one or more lifters not being able to pump up to the proper oil pressure, resulting in a metal on metal tick.If u change to solid lifters, they will ALL tick.A good potential solution is change u r oil to a 5w-20 put 1/2 can of Seafoam in with the oil and 1/4 can in ur gas tank.Run the truck for 500 miles and then change oil again to whatever u r going to run permanently and put the remaining 1/4 can of Seafoam in.This will clean the top end pretty well and may eliminate ur tick. without engine repair.BJ

Thanks guys I will try it.. I am a seafoam user myself I just didnt think that would help fix it... Its a worse tick then I have ever heard working on a mazda but I will try some 5 20 and some seafoam today and see what happens... Thx...........

Let us know.New hydraulic lifters (i just bought a set) are 38 bucks apiece retail at the Maz store.I can get em for 24 bucks apiece so if u end up needin a set,let me know. These are OEM lifters.U may be able to do better at Fly-by-Nite Auto, but ur Maz may eat em.BJ
