get ahold of orangemazda b2000- he is close to a salvage yard/ engine importer up in Washington state who has a few bongo engines left- that is where I got mine. Kevin (orangemazdab2000) was up there looking for an original fe3, and stubbled across a batch of these engines- and thought- wow- a 12 valve, fuel injected fe head- with distributor on the side- very interesting?!? It opens up a lot of possiblities for us- that is for sure. These engines were/ are produced fairly recently over in japan- so this will be a good swap for us mazda guys when our engines wear out- at 300,000 miles or so.
I would guess the horsepower right now is pretty equivalent to a FI b2200 engine like we have here in the states and canada- about 110 HP, maybe a few more with the pacesetter, and MS with 330cc injectors- free flowing intake and air filter. Mine is only a 1.8 liter- but it's a zingy little sucker.
Initally I'll run the 1.8 bottom end with the turbo, but I have a b2000 bottom end I will most likely build for the truck with forged internals for when I get the truck tuned out.
I alwayd liked the way the 2000 engines reved better than the 2200's- seems like that longer stroke just throws everything off with them. Those b2000's rev like champions's, I think they are the best, and they all have manual adjustable rocker arms- not those dumb hydraulic lash peices of junk.
