im going to go out and look for a 626 engine so that i can swap my 89 b2200 engine with. i have this leak that i cannot find ive changed everything that i can think of twice and still no luck. so im just going to go ahead with the swap and be done with it. i thought it was the rear main seal changed it twice and put in a repair sleeve. the leak is coming from the passenger side leaking down the side of the passenger side of the bell housing and running into the splash gaurd. it only leaks under pressure and im so tired of all the oil pools in my driveway. so if anyone has done the 626 swap can you please help me with all the info that i need to do this swap thanks.

Issues: U r going to swap a FWD engine into a RWD truck. The 626 dist is on the drivers side of the engine so when u put it in the truck, the dist will hit the firewall=head swap. The FI intake plenum will not clear the 2200 hood=2600i hood or cut a hole in ur hood or do a custom runner fab.Fuel management system will have to be redone=Megasquirt or something similar.ETc.,etc.Good luck.BJ

I found the main points for oil leaks on a mazda b2200 are front main seal and the valve cover gasket torque your screws down snug and evenly distributed. I notice when the gasket gets old it will shrink some and then the screws will start to loosen.

if you can find a 86-87 626 then the swap is easy because you can swap the rotating assembly from your truck to the 626 putting your distributer on the front....you really dont have to do this because the dizzy comes of the side in the back, but the water coolant enters the back which will work but you would have to run a long rubber hose to it which will look ugly...

swapping the rotating assembly and cams would be your best bet and you will have no problems with the intake manifold because it runs over the valve cover like the FI b2200's

i had an 86 626 turbo motor that i was going to put in my truck but the only pistons i could find were $430 from peaco performance...if you just wanted to put the 86 626 FI, it uses the b2000 pistons which are easier to find and less expensive
