So i have my weber carb installed now and it runs fine at idle and in 1st and second but once im hit 3rd and above (mainly on going up hills although it has happened on flat stretches) my truck starts putting and just will not accellerate at all...now ive been constantly tuning the idle mixture screw trying different things but still i get the same problem (just either less or more of the problem, but always there) just wanted to know what it is i might want to look into...planning on changing my fuel filter this weekend to see if that helps but im stumped

What truck? I don't remember if there were diff. mechanical fuel pumps. Mine is at 3.7 psi. So if yours is as well, I would be kinda stumped. Its kinda hard for me to help when I'm not there.

I would say try making sure your float is at the right level. Then your going to need to check your jets.

If your carb is brand new, then it should'nt be the float. But if it is, you need to check if this carb was tuned for our trucks from Redline...

ok i changed the fuel filter everything seems to be ok for now:) my only question now is for the mixture screw (on the weber carbs) how many turns counter clockwise from the screw being totally in does everyone have their carb set at just trying to make sure everything is turned correctly.. im running 87 octane and have mine at 2 full rotations counterclockwise, seems ok but by the smell seems like im still running rich...any help would be most appreciated thanks

1 and 1/4 turns should do it.BJ

Eh, sorry I was'nt here to reply. Gone for the week! I found that if you smell gas, you are still too rich. Unitl after I got it tuned by a guy with a smog analyzer did I learn that it was badly out of tune! lol...

Although, you need to check your idle screw. If its in more than 1 1/2 turns your jet needs to change so you have the right idle screw setup. Change your jet and your mix screw will come in a little more I bet. 2 turns out is the most you want to be at.

It should help reduce the unburnt gas and give you a more equal mix ratio. Make sure your timing is at 6 degrees BTDC.

Now, in the morning my cat onverter spits out water because of the exhaust, but once its warm there is really nothing except the fumes...

Keep in mind what works for one person(there sea level ,set timing, modifactions, fuel grade) will not necessarialy work for you. However it is a good idea for base settings.
Person i would recommend you my sure everything is up to spec before jumping on the Weber.
Good luck
