cat or no cat?

how do our trucks run/sound without a cat, i'm not looking for more power (as long as i don't lose any) or to be loud. the only reason i'm thinking about it is because my truck smokes, and i think all that oil through the cat has clogged it up.

i had a hollowed out cat, and it sounded like ass in my opinion, hollowed out cat and a glass pack i put amagnaflow hogh flow cat on it and a stock muffler and am much happier.

take off the pre cat,put a Magnaflow hi-po cat and a flowmaster 40 series muffler.Great sound and it wil pass emissions.BJ

that pre-cat, off the manifold? thats a bitch and how would you replace that? its part of the manifold. i agree flowmasters sound great on these trucks, i just like quiet, magnaflow high cats are awesome, i just put one on on saturday and love it

I'm just ordering a header to get rid of mine. But you can cut a flange based off the pre cat out of thick steel with a hole in it the size of your exhaust and not the giant 4 1/2". Then just weld pipe to that and back to the existing system. That was my plan but now it's changed so it's yours now.

sounds like a lot of wasted work lol, i dunno i just like quiet. so thats what i did for mine

I heard my friends last night with a pacesetter and a flow master 40 series, NOT my taste. I had a gutted pre-cat, then the cat itself removed with a cherry bomb glass pack, and it was NOT loud or stupid sounding at all. Sounded like a v6 fwd car. kinda.

well maybe some trucks are different, but with a normal pre cat and a hollowed out cat, and a glass pack my truck sounded like sh*t, and now with a real cat and a real muffler, purrs like a kitten.
