Hey, I just put the msd 6AL in my truck not long ago. When i go to shut my truck off it will stall most of the time. Or when i downshift going down a hill, and come to a stop, my truck will bog and die. It didn't do it before the msd box.

I have heard there are problems when using this with a points system. Apparently something about a condensor...or may have to run a diode to some voltage regulator?

Anyone got ideas? thanks.

How you likey the 6al?

Blaster 5 does me pretty good.

Anyhoo, I cannot elaborate on your problem much since I dunno much about wiring these and all...

Although, from what I was told by MSD, we do not have a point dist. Therefore there is no need for wiring the ballast resistor for our setup. If thats what your talking about?

I dunno what differs from the 5 and 6, but I wonder if you may have some wiring mixed up?

I wired mine right out of the first figure in the diagrams. It was for the points system and all, but I did'nt use the resistor. Try it out, I say!

Worst comes to worst, call them up...

yeah theres quite a difference, i like it alot. im gonna go on the msd tech forums and see what they have to say. i was almost positive our trucks use points?

It'd be better if you called them. I called them instead and it took less time to talk to them and get an answer than it took to register and wait a day for validation and then post up, wait for an answer... lol.

I was under the assumption that they were talking about the points on the cap... Anyhoo I believe explained I was wrong and that they were talking about the dist. system and how it works in the dist. Which I believe to be the breaker points?

You should post up some pics of how you have it wired to your coil.. Depending on how soon you do it, I may be able to help... I gotta leave again for my job...

Dev might also be able to help...
