I Really Want To Put A Rotary Engine In My Future Mazda, But I Dont Know Very Much About Rotarys. Im Really Set On Doing This So Dont Try To Talk Me Out Of It Lolz. I Know It Can Be Done! But I Have Some Questions:

*What Gen Rotary Motor Would Be Best?
*What Is The Difference Between 12B And 13B?
*What Does The B Stand For?
*What Problems Usually Occur With A Rotary?
*What All Do I Need To Change Or Build To Put One In? ( I Have A Fab Shop At School So I Can Build What I Need To)
*Do The Rotary Enginges From A REPU Mazda Bolt Right In?
*What Does FC And FD Mean And What Does It Have To Do With A Rotary?

And Ill Prolly Have Plenty Others When I Get Some Replies Lolz.

Alright. I'm not the utmost expert on the rotary engines, but I do know a couple things about them. I contemplated doing the rotary swap, and from what I read up on it, it should be the easiest to put in a 12A engine (1st gen RX7). Reason for this is that the input shaft for the transmission is the same between the B2000/B2200 transmission, and all you would have to do is swap over the bell housing. Also, being carbureted, it would probably be alot easier than tackling all the wiring involved with the fuel injection. Rotary engines to have a tendancy of blowing apex seals (equivalent to head gaskets) but if you run the engine often, it will keep the seals from drying out, and cracking, causing them to blow out. You will need to fab some engine mounts to get it to mount in the truck, but they are available aftermarket. Hopefully everything I said is correct, but I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong

Thanx For The Info. My Future Truck Most Likely Will Be A 1990 B2600i Ext Cab So It Wont Be Carburated, And Prolly Means The Input Shaft From The Tranny Will Prolly Be Different. I Dont Know Very Much About Trannys But Ill Be Taking The Tranny Classes Soon So Hopefully Ill Learn All of That

How Much Do The Seals Usually Cost?
Is The 12A Have A Turbo?
Whats The A Stand For?

Yes the 12a is Turbo But it's also a 22-year-old motor

If you want ANY torque at all I’d stay away from the Rotary unless you like revving the truck like it's a 2 stroke Motorcycle

The A and B refer to the production model
By that i mean

12A (12A-SIP)
12B (single distributor)

13A (120mm rotor diameter instead of the standard 105mm)
13B (13B-RESI - 13B-DEI -13B-REW )

you can also google wikepedia-rx-7, it has a bunch of useful basic info about the rotary & what year rx's they came in.....the 2600's tranny won't work with either the 12 or 13 series engines if im not mistaken.

12A=1200 cc displacement swept under the rotors.13B=1300 cc displacement swept under the rotors.A-B is the engine series.Early rotaries had rubber seals that became hard and cracked and used beaucoup oil.Later rotaries had stellite (ceramic) seals that did much better.B2000,B2200 trucks with both manual and 5 speed will bolt to a rotary with a bellhousing swap.2600 will not.12A engines and early 13B's were carbed, later ones used FI as they were mostly in the RX-7.Some of the B rotaries were FI'd and turboed.None of the carbed engines were.Remember that a rotary gets ALL its grunt from RPM -thus the 6500-7000 rpm redlines. If u r going for top end/show,go rotary. If u r going for daily driver/mileage/dependability/towing-dont go rotary.B-B-B-J.
