ideas for engine swap

i was curious is there any other engine out there that will work in one of these, or with slight modifications or a swap kit. i know some people have put a 302 in them before, but i was thinkin about a newer more efficient engine. i was wondering if anyone had some ideas of anything or if it would be for the most part a lot of custom parts to swap in something. thanks

you could always do a rotary swap.. You could do just about anything if you wanna spend the time and the money... If you want a good motor just for more power then grab a Chevy 4.3 should be a simple swap..

im going with a 98 350 ls1 in mine. the local machine shop said they would hook me up with anything i need.

would the 4.3 work, as a fairly easy swap? yea i know anything can be done with time and money, but i was just wondering if some are any easier or parts more avalible for certain engines. if the 4.3 would work fairly easy that would be great i got one sitting in the garage with computer, harness, and fuse box.

The 4.3 is the same motor as the 5.7 just 2 cylinders shorter. Yeah it will work of course you gotta put in new mounts and tranny and so on and so on.. You can carb the motor to, just find a manifold and carb off an older one or you could buy new parts and carb it and say the hell with injection, or you could put all the computer and all that in if you wanna spend some more time on it....Search around there are plenty of swaps available.

Painless makes a harness for the 4.3 and all the front end stuff can be SBC stuff, pulleys water pump etc

yea i know about the 4.3 i have a chevy background, but i was just curious on the mounts i had read somewhere and it sounded like it was straight forward swap. i didnt know if it was like the fe3 engine just a drop in or if i would have to cut the mounts off and weld them on.

With the 4.3 swap can't you just run a S10 tranny and mount?Then the only fab work woulb be the driveshaft and motor mounts.

thats what im figuring, just thought i would check around, i am debating this swap since i have the 4.3 and computer and harness, but i would really like to build an fe3. but i cant decide, ive been trying to find out all the info i can before i committ one way or the other. but thanks for the help guys
