yep, the 22k is smaller, shorter carrier (chunk) & smaller ring & pinion....the 26k chunk is swapable with some of the 86-9? rx-7's
and you can get lsd....I think limequat has done this to his....

so what im wanting to know.... if i swap my 2200 with the 2600 rear end will i get better rpm/mph ratio.... i hate going down the interstate 70mph and nearly 3500 rpm..... im going back to stock height and bigger tires.... untill i get another daily so i can park and cut the 2200 up.... and with the price of gas going up and up im looking to do everything i can to cut down on gas usage.....

here are the b26k rear axle ratios
4x2, MT (3.727 ratio)
4x2, AT (3.909 ratio)
4x4, MT (4.44 ratio)
4x4, MT (4.30 ratio)
4x4, AT (4.10 ratio)
the only way you'd get better mileage is from a 4x2 mt 3.727, not sure if these ratios changed any during any of the production years of the b26k.
not that the pinion length of the carrier for the b26k is longer than the b26k, so you'll have driveshaft issues. also, it won't be as torquey off the line as it is with the b22k's rear.
