Hello all.

My brothers got a couple 4.3's with the 700r4 (?) from 88-98 Chevy Fullsizes in the garage. I was kind of thinking about snagging one off him. I can get one for dirt cheap probably...Im sure next to nothing, and his girlfriend has a hoist at her house. So its almost like...I've got no reason to say no or something.

Just wondering the weight difference for everything (Tranny/Engine/Accesories) compared to the 1986 2.0 Liter.

My goal is to have my truck sitting on 33's without rubbing. (3in bodylift, 2in bj spacers, add leaves, flatbed.)

Should i expect this rear end to grenade itself with the 4.3's (what...160hp?) spinning the 33s?

Let me know what you think about this in general/what kind of problems I may have. (Going from a 86 carb'd to a 92(??) TBI 4.3...im sure it'll be way more winter friendly too )

Weight difference isnt too much, no more than 250 lbs. Rear end will hold up...dont try to trash it tho. It'll be good with the stock 4.3.

Whats everyone running for a rear end with lots of power? What about a Toyota or Nissan with a Locker if Im going to be making a new driveshaft anyway?

Any ideass

Why not use a GM rear end too? Since your gunna be doing the drivetrain, exaust, driveshaft, wiring, brakes etc.
