thinking about doing the swap into the mazda. I'm thinking if i find a complete car and then swap everything from there it would be less headaches. Has anyone doen the swap and if so what are some things to watch out for. thanks guys

come pick up my swap, everything u need except for a fuel pump, and megasquirt, i have the factory wiring harness, intercooler piping, intercooler, 2 edis4 ignitions, already switched the oil pans and lower rad hose, flipped intake, turbo flip pipe, factory overhauled t3 turbo, mazda 323 thermostat housing, rad with electric fan, new oil pan, lower rad hose, valve cover, and exhaust manifold gaskets..

Problem#1 is the intake faces the wrong direction(toward firewall),but with some creative junk yard shopping this isnt a big deal.My intake was from the mid 80's 626 2.0i....it wraps over top of the valve cover so you dont need to go crazy modding the probe intake. The probe injectors fit in the older intake and the intake bolts right up to both our truck heads and the probe head, the heater core hoses from the truck dont even need to be changed.Problem #2 is the pre-cat on the bottom of the turbo wastegate housing is in the way of the motor mount on the driver side.I cut mine off and welded a three inch round three hole flange at the base of the wastegate housing, most any exhaust shop has this part for like 6 bucks. once you get around those two issuses you only need to wire in the turbo ecu/harness etc and the motor is ready to bolt to the stock mounts and tranny and drve down the road. this is the engine that should have been in our trucks from day 1.It is absolutely an easy swap.

isn't the probe a front wheel drive?

Yah it is.

thanks for all the info guys.

Baggedb22, so you have all of the stuff to bolt up to the mazda motor or do you have a probe motor. I think there the same block right?

bagged's swap has all the parts on it. the intake has been flipped and the ignition is there to take care of the firewall clearance issue which is why he says that you need a megasquirt.

SHAWNB2000, i wouldn't say its a easy swap, theres alot that has to be done.. But is deffenitly doable, and a fun swap...

yeap thanks Deranged! Mine was out of a 90 Mx6 gt same f2 block as the probe, mazda b2200, i have everything including the motor, you have to convert almost everything on the outside of the block from the probe/mx6 to the b2200 parts, flywheel clutch, lower rad hose, mazda 323 thermostat housing, lower crank pulley, b2200 pick up tube & oil pain...
