Go down to your local steel supplier or sheet metal shop and have them cut out a chunl of solid steel square in the dimensions of the factory crossmember. Best bet is to take the factory one to them and have them do all the mesuring and drill the mounting holes through it.

i welded a pieces of 1/4" to the bottom of mine, but not only so i can drag it without worrying but my crossmember in notched for my v8, If u need another one pm with a price and we'll see what we can do...

hey bro what u could do is weld something in between the framerails before u take it off, so it holds its structure...maybe a 1x1x.25 or even a 2x2x.25 like right behind the oil pan or in front of it...should be safe that way

but yea i've taken one off before and i was able to put it back on...blare took his off too and put it back on, guess make sure the truck isnt at an awkward position to where the frame might flex once u take the bar off

i'd use solid steel like vet said

you don't need that crossmember, i lost mine along time ago in the walmart parkin lot. just be careful that you dont drag through the lower control arm mounting bolts
