Hey, I'm wanting to do a full firewall back frame, but i was thinkin of a TRUE cantilever setup. What do i need to know?if i know my bar length, where is the pivot point gonna be? how long is the rocker arm from the cantilever rocker to the axle? I'M SOOO CONFUSED.

do it any way you want

that didn't tell me anything. i need to know what it is, how it works, and how to calculate for bar length on it.

It all goes back to basic geometry. Think of a seesaw. A 2 to 1 ratio would work well with minimal problems. The bag would expand and move its end of the bar 10inches and the other end would move 20inches.

I cant tell very well from the picture, but that looks like a mechanical advantage setup, not cantilever. Is your cylinder mounted to the lower bar? THats the way mine is set up, only with bags and a lot less lift lol..

I believe he is asking about cantilevers with rockers. LIke this badass chevy. There is an axle on bearings that goes through the framerail!!

you just have a lever setup, not canty...true canty doesnt exist because its canty itself

there is one in an accord

you can do them many different ways. you asked where the pivot should be...its all UP TO YOU. there is nothing to explain since you obviously already know how it is supposed to be setup. same applies to canty's as to lever setups, the closer the pivot is to the source, then the more lift you will get, but you will sacrifice some things at the same time such as spring rate, but it'll ride soft, if that is what you want. if you want to stay in a good safe median that requires less math/etc., just mount the pivot dead in the middle of the bar, you dont really need that much lift anyway.

with that accord's setup, he can touch the rear down on a 2inch tall exhaust pipe, on 20s and clear them well with an inch or so above the fenders, full lift

this is the accord layed out now
