Alright, so im in my shopp yesterday, and i realized there is a fair sized rust hole in my driver side floor, so i cut it out, and before long i realized, i would rather take an extra summer on my truck BODY DROP it and get it the way i want it...lol... so me and my old man are trying to figure everything out. now for some questions....
1. Is it better to channel or traditional body drop my truck?
2. how far is it to the little flat peice of the rocker under the doors?
3. Should i lower my enigne while i have it out?
4. I i do channel it, can i take the cross member holding the torsion bars out and replace it with a simple bar for structure? that goes for the tranny member aswell...

if anybody could help me out it would be awsome, and pics and diagrams are always best for me to learn from!!!lol, thanx guys, peace.

I take it your not doin a stock floor?

I think its 2.75 to the rockers (no more pinch)

yeah lower the engine, I dropped mine an inch so far, cut the mounts off the frame and lowered them an inch. We also notched the cross member under the motor so that i've got clearance, i've still got to trim under the lower arms and the x-member so that it will lay flat.

lol yea, i tried following it but you two might as well have just exchanged numbers!j/k but yea i saw alot of the stuf but just wanted to get some things figured out....so what doi you guys surgest? chanel or traditional body drop, and impulse i noe you dont like giving out pics, but if you could show me some of your front cross member or even a diagram so i noe howmuch i can take off with out it being unsafe, and what do you mean by cutting the lower control arms?? thanx again,

i never said cutting the lowers I said trimming under them as its part of that cross member.

I think we took about 1/2" or so out of the top of the x-member... i might have a pic of it before trimming. then you have to trim the lower part of it or drag thru it after your done.

that x-member doesn't do to much really, but just don't cut it paper thin... lol.

Here ya go!

cutting all that out wont weaken the frame to much?? and still the question remains, should i bother making new cross members, and channel it or shoul di traditional body drop it?? im a tall guy so if i trad. it it might be uncombfortable....lol

o, and thanx for the pics!!

thats just a bolt in x-member trimming it down will not weaken the frame.

channeling and your traditional body drop are almost the same thing. it will probably look cleaner if you just traditional it as you will hardly have a step in the mazda.

now if you were trying to decide between building a frame and a traditional then i'd think you'd have a bit more of a decision to make.

is there alot of head room with a traditional? like im 6''1'' and im just scared i wont have enmought room to be combfortable...i wanna drop it enough so that the inch or what ever that is of flat space under the door is on the ground, or close to it.....
