So I just picked up an 89 b2200(red) not to long ago with 90K on it. The thing is absolutely spotless and im lookin to do some mods on it. Its bone stock and i wanna drop it and put some rims on it. I was thinkin some escalade or gm rims or somethin. I dont wanna spend a ton of money(college student) but i want a nice clean look. Help me out here. thx

hey bro. great to have ya on the site!!!
sounds like you found a great truck. so are you looking to bag your truck, or just static drop it and put rims on it?

let me know if you have any questions about the site...

probably just static drop it. im guessing it would be cheaper that way.

it would be much cheaper, much, much cheaper.
if you really want to spend two grand you can do a lot if you're not going to bag it.

Lowering options for the front:
Drop Spindles or Control Arms will run around $200-300. both options will be either 2"or 3" of drop.
Cranking down your torsion bars can give a lot of drop also and its FREE!

For the rear:
1"-4" Lowering blocks will be less than $40. Then you can also take a leaf or two out of your spring load which would be FREE also.

You could also get lowered drop shocks to help the ride of a lowered truck. I just bought a set of Toxic Drop shocks that were around $100 for all four from stylinconcepts.com

I would spend the majority of your money on a set of rims and tires. A dull truuck can look pretty great with a great set of rims on it.

So you could spend around $500 max lowering your truck. so with $1500 you should definately be able to get a sick set of rims and tires.

sick that all sounds good. ill be able to post some pics of my truck tomorrow but for now ill just describe it. Its a regular cab short bed(5spd of course), ac, no power steering, 90k on it, spotless red exterior that was garage kept, grey interior with the bench seat(thinkin about buckets). Its got stock steel wheels on it with a brand new set of tires and the timing belt, water pump, all that routine maintenence shit was done right after i bought it. Its a really clean truck and all i have done to it was tint the windows and put a bedliner in it. there was no bedliner when i bought it but there was not one scratch even in the bed! The guy i bought it from kept this thing crazy clean so it should be a fun car to mod.

So if u just crank down the torsion bars how much drop can you get? and also will it offset the camber on the wheels pretty bad? I mean i would def wanna do it right and get the drop spindle and all but just curios.

you can get the tires hugging the wheels with the torsions not even cranked down all the way...i have mine cranked down abit, still got about 3/4"-1" of clearance before the bumpstop, and 4" blocks in the rear, and stock leafs. check it out.
