I was wondering if there was a difference in gearing in a 4x4 rearend and a 2wd.

i would say so, i dont have complete specs but theres gotta be so when your in 4wd you can gear lower and such

rear axle ratios are

4x2 = 3.72:a
4x4 at = 4.44:1
4x4 mt = 4.30:1

on the b2600's

&

3.909:1 on all b2200 mt & at

So which rearend would probably be best for street/strip?

JUST DEPENDS ON WHAT YOUR LOOKIN TO PUT IN FRONT OF THE REAR END ENGINE WISE, IF YOU ARE GONNA USE THE B2000 OR B2200 ENGINE THE STOCK REAR IS GOOD, ESP IF YOU GET A CARRIER FROM AN RX-7 WHICH WILL GIVE YOU A LSD REAR WITH THE SAME GEARING.......
YOU COULD USE EITHER REAR OUT OF THE 4X4'S, BUT YOU WOULD HAVE TO BUY A LOCKER OR LSD TO PUT IN THEM, & THEY WILL TAKE AWAY FROM YOUR TOP END MPH, BUT BE BETTER OFF THE LINE THAN THE STOCK REAR.......I AM LOOKING AT GETTING A REAR OUT OF A YOTA 90-97, THEY KEEP THE FACTORY LUG PATTERN (ALREADY HAVE MY WHEELS) & YOU CAN GET A DISC BRAKE CONVERSION PLUS IT IS ALREADY LSD OR YOU CAN GET LOCKERS FOR THEM TOO & THE COME IN SEVERAL RATIOS 3.58:1, 3.90:1, 4.10:1, 4.30:1

NYTRDR, does the RX-7 carrier bolt right into the B2200 axle housings?
nytrdr24   +1y
none of them are a direct fit as the yolk is different on the carrier output shaft than our driveshafts, either modding our driveshaft or have a custom made one will cure this. i believe that the 86-93 turbo came with the lsd & disc brakes, only some of the gxl's did....diffinately check the bolt pattern on the carrier & see if it is the same as ours.

also the diamiter of the tubes are bigger on the 4x4
