well im getting ready to bag my truck cus im tired of my static drop and i was wondering what i need to lay out fully in the front cus i have herd people saying that there only half an inch of not laying out. Do i need to flip my ball joints , or get those 2 in drop spindles ive herd about, or what about control arms? well ive been reading some older posts but still alittle confused on what i need to do. now i know some factors like wheel size or if your running bigger baggs well im just going to be running some 2500 with my z 71's so whats the best set up for that?

It all depends....

you can flip your ball joints with your z71 wheels, because they are 16s, but with 17s and bigger your gonna need drop spindles

depending on tire size ^

if you run something like a 205/40 then you only need to flip your ball joints and set the torsion brackets up properly. If you plan on running bigger wheels then you need to look into control arms or drop spindals. I had drop spindals on my z71's and they were a pain in the ass... but you will get less camber so its better on tire wear.

The reason alot of people with mazdas always say there like a half inch from laying and tehre only runnin 16's, is because either they didn't notch the lower control, or there upper balljoints are binding before there truck lays. Remember if u wanna insure u will lay on a bigger wheel then a 16 you can make a spacer when u flip your lower balljoints

Like mullet said i wouldn't even worry about spindles unless ur gonna run a 18 or bigger and even then if u no what ur doing u can make an 18 lay without spindles...

ok question - I have some 06 escalades their 18x8's with a 31mm offset. I was told on another forum I should be able to tuck them in the front but I may have some issues in the rear (which I am gonna try to work around later) my question is do I need drop spindles or control arms to lay out the front with these wheels? I am planning on running 215/35/18's.

I am new to all this stuff so bare with me please.

That's not true. My truck's layed out with stock spindles on 17" Denali's with 215/45/17's on em which is 24.5" tall.

You don't need drop spindles, but will have to modify your control arms. They may 'fit' up front because of the camber as it lays out, but they may catch the fender lip as you lift it up, mine come close and your's will stick out 1/2" more than mine. It may lift up far enough to clear the fender before that happens though, I'm not sure. They definitely won't fit out back because of that extra half inch. Mine are maybe a 1/8" away from the outer bed skin when layed out. They were rubbing when I went dragging, burned a small spot in the paint on the side. LoL
