Well, I like to learn things and be able to do it myself instead. And today, I'm here to ask how to determine what size rim will fit and what won't.

What are the aspects of the rims size do I need to know? Offset, size, clearance, etc.

And how do I determine whether or not a certain size rim will not affect the suspension and steering and whatnow?

or 'am I just better off going down to a tire shop and have them figure out what fits? I would like to get 20's. But I dunno what needs to be done to fit.

My dad thinks that if I get bigger rims than what the truck came with stock, my speed is going to be affected? As in it says I'm doing 30 but really doing 35... I have never heard of something like this, but it's better to ask!

Something about the relation of the gear ratios between the speedometer cable and the gear for the wheels... I dunno, does'nt make sense to me!

well to answer the bigger wheel changing the speedometer reading the only way it would change it is if the new wheel and tire combo had a large diameter then the stock wheel and tire what im saying is your 14's say the side wall of the tire is 6 inches when you go to a bigger wheel the side wall of the tire for say a 17 inch wheel may only be 3 inchs

little easier siad once i thought about it say for stock wheel measures 27 inches tall as long as when you would put tires on the bigger wheels you didnt go over the 27 in height you speedo will be the same

I have a equus speedo and 17" z71 wheels w low pro rubber, and by fluke my speedo is correct, did'nt have to recalibrate!!

The speed is also going to be off if the overall diameter is smaller.

The main things you have to look for is overall diameter of the wheel/tire combo, wheel width, and offset/backspacing.

yeah thats true i was just saying if the diameter stays 27 inches itll be the same going higher or lower will change it any idiot can figure that out I HOPE !
