Since I am now planning out my 5.0 swap, I want to make sure I have all angles planned out. I will need bigger brakes, but I dont know how to get them. will a toyota spindle bolt where our spindle does? only reason I ask is there are tons of companies that sell large brake kits for toyotas. I am only really worried about the front right now, cuase I plan on swapping a shortend 9" later after its driving.

I will not be baggin this truck, so there is no restriction there. I am going to a pro tour kind of look. going to upgrade to some sway-a-way torsions and add an air assist towing system to the back.

I was going to convert this to a 4x4, but I got the OK to get a fullsized 4x4 truck again.

Thanks for the help,
Mike

YOU CAN USE THE YOTA SPINDLES, BUT HAVE TO ADAPT THE STEERING LINKAGE & BALL JOINTS TO OUR CONTROL ARMS....DONT' KNOW ABOUT BRAKE UPGRADES ON THE YOTAS, BUT YOU CAN GET SLOTTED & X-DRILLED ROTORS FOR THE MAZDAS FROM J.C. WHITNEY ON THE CHEAP...PUT THEM WITH SOME GOOD PADS ON & YOU OUGHT TO HAVE BETTER BREAKING. I DO KNOW THAT YOU CAN GET A DISC BRAKE CONVERSION FOR A YOTA REAREND....IF YOU AREN'T GOING TO "BUILD THE V8" THEN A YOTA V6 REAR WOULD HOLD UP TO WHAT THE V8 WOULD PUT OUT, THEY ARE 8" RING GEARS...YOU CAN GET SEVERAL DIFFERENT GEAR RATIOS, & ALSO LSD'S OR LOCKERS....JUST A THOUGHT....

PADS & ROTORS FOR MAZDA FRONT.....$65 PADS, $100 ROTORS
DISC BRAKE CONVERSION FOR YOTA REAR.....@$600

so the slotted and crossdrilled rotors for a mazda would be plenty for a V8? with the highest quality brake pads? that would be easier, would they fit on a drop spindle? I plan on running a rim larger then 17" so I dont have to wrry about the limitations on drop spindles.

Thanks,
Mike

here are the part #'s form jc whitney

492661 DRIVER'S SIDE DRILLED & SLOTTED PERFORMA
Quantity: 1 @ Total Price:$49.99 USD
492662 PASSENGER'S SIDE DRILLED & SLOTTED PERFO
Quantity: 1 @ Total Price:$49.99 USD

they will fit the dropped spindles as they use the mazda hub assembly which will require a mazda rotor....if you get these or just plain slotted rotors with some good pads & upgrade to some braided lines from goodridge or russel i think they should slow the ole dawg down fine.....esp if you did a yota rear axle w/ disc brake conversion....

Get the cross drilled slotted rotors and you'll be fine (got them from a shop in Cambridge, ON). I warped the shit outta the stock ones in about 2 weeks, switched to the cross/slot and was fine for years. Just make sure you get good pad with them.

one other suggestion any type of rotors plain or perfomance, make sure you follow the bed-in procedures....if you get the slotted and or slotted / x-drilled ones it wouldn't be a bad idea to get them cryo treated....it's $30 a rotor & they won't warp or crack, & it will extend the life of them as well...
