Just wondering about the 2 options for being bagged. Ride quality? Lift? etc.

I hear over the axle has the worse ride, so I figure I'll go with one of these 2 ways.

i am going with a wishbone, it is a caddy like ride with much lift. i like the look of some of rides if seen with bags over the axle but i want lift and a smooth ride. plus with a wishbone there is no panhard bar to worry about and it is easy to custom build your own.

YEah I was thinkin of a set up like that. Can you find any pics of exatcly what you're wanting to do? I'd like to see.

I've thought about the system that allows me to keep my gas tank in the stock location.

ok, by what i understand, you will get more lift, and a better ride by mounting on the bars. mounting on the axle is just an easier approach to bagging. it is the basic setup, good lift and good ride...

myself, i will be using a setup with the bags on the bars, with my bars as long as i can get them on bottom, with the bags mounted a 1/4 of the way down from the cab on the lowers...

bag on bars is best.

bag over axle is worse because majority of the people who do it, never put shocks back on it.

I have bags over axle and 2600's on it and it rides fine better than my daily, and im not running shocks.

Ok uh I don't plan on doing bags OVER axle. But what I was wondering about is there any difference with Bags over, or bags BEHIND the axle?

if your trying to run bag on bars and wanting to keep your gas tank in stock location its not happening.

unless you plan on being gutsy and running a reverse 4 link.

you could run bags on the bars with the gas tank in the stock location. Run a 3link with the run 2 more bars backwards for the bags like the s10 5link.

1hotdawg - FYI Most bags (ie 2600) form a pretty stiff spring for the rear of a mini truck. If you can imagine a line with one end fixed (frame of your truck) and the other end movable (your axel) - the greater the leverage on the airspring, the softer the ride. All things being equal (forward facing triangulated 4 link), if the truck rides rough with bag OVER axel, it will ride worse with the bag BEHIND the axel (further from fixed point). My current project involves shocks mounted close to the movable end and the airspring mounted at the mid point between the fixed and the movable. Ride is good without being bouncy or rough. Angle of shock also makes a difference - vertical is stiff, angled is soft. Robbie's 5 link would allow the gas tank to remain, the suspension geometry to remain and the ride to be good.

Sounds interesting. Can someone post a pic or 2 of a 5 link set up? (I'll google some as well)
