Hey everyone.

Ive got an 86 b2000, and ive already adjusted the torsions, and put a block in. in the summer i ride on 205 60 15s on pathfinders.

Im planning on what im going to be doing to my truck when spring rolls around and im ready to move on to a bigger drop.

1) Torsions: Lots of people have taken their torsion bars out. I was thinking about doing it. How much of a drop could i get out of it? What are the dangers of doing it? How do i take them out(Without killing myself)?

2) Monoleafs: I wanna monoleaf it too. Ive already got a leaf set, what kind of shock should i get? Does it have to be an air shock, or could i get away with using a drop shock? (My shocks are fairly new)

3) Tires: 195.45.15s with this suspension setup. whats everyone think?

4) Notch: With this suspension, do you think a notch would be needed?

Thanks guys n girls. Sorry if some of these were retarded ..just lookin for some answers haha.

Torsions: You just need to stick a jack under there and ALWAYS a couple jack stands and lower the torsion keys all the way! Then just unbolt them from the front and wiggle them out! You won't gain much at first because you will be sitting on the bumpstops! So take off the wheels and unbolt the bumpstop, and a couple of them will need to be pryed out!

As far as the drop you will get out of it? I have never measured in inches but after I took them out along with the bumpstops and I took out my shocks as well...for now...I was EASILY tuckin' prolly about an inch or more of rubber on a set of 225/35R18

I have also 4-Linked the back, so that need to be taken into account as well!

Notch: I wouldn't think you would need a notch for the setup you are looking for? PLEASE SOMEONE CORRECT ME IF IM WRONG!

Okay lets see on the torsions I just reindexed mine an they are tightened all the way up an my crossmember is less than 2 inches off the ground and i also have the bumpstops removed and on the rear a monoleaf is fine im runnin 3'' blocks with only the long leaf and bumpstop removed and my frame is layin on the axle and ive got a very low level stance im runnin 195/60r14s for now and also ive still got the stock shocks all the way around

1) taking your torsions and bump stops off will make for one realllllllllyy rough ride. if u r doing a static drop. i used the DJM Control lowring control arms from Stylinconcepts.com and re indexed my torsions and i sit about three inches off the ground in the front. in my opinion it is to risky to go lower.

2) in the rear i cut my springs and use a three inch block and have toxic drop shocks that r made for an explorer, i will be putting a notch in but just a two and one half i do not plan on bags so there is no need for a step notch i would end up dragging the spring and shock mounts if i went much lower ther are about three inches from the ground as well.

3) i used a 195/50 on the pathfinder rims i wanted a lil more tire for a smoother ride and again i do not want to see any lower then three inches because as it is a scrape all the time.

check out my car domain i have pictures of everthing but the front control arms those will be up soon. you can see what all that will get you on a 91 b22

I already know what I'm doing for my suspension, but unure what do to for the front since I have 2 options, and I'm not sure which would be the better (ie: cost factor and every day driveability/safety/ground clearance etc)

Drop spindles or control arms? Either way I look to be spending near the same amount of money on either. Keep in mind the truck is going to be lowered and driven daily for the summer, and I'm even planning to take it to Florida in July,so it's gotta be driveable.

What are the advantages/disadvantages if any for C-arms or spindles?

Mike, DJM spindles are a nice option in that they retain suspension geometry which is important for handling and tire wear - down side is they will move your tire OUT 1/4 to 1/2 ". Depending on your rims, this may not be a problem. The drop contol arm is also ok, but in y opinion, reindexing the torsions on the stock arms is not much different. One issue I have had with really low stock arm setups is the Idler Arm hitting the tension rod (lower control arm to front of truck) during turning. A drop control arm fixes this, but so does the spindle. My solution was to construct a spacer between the tension rod and the lower control arm. Hope this helps.

ah ok. Well I'm only going to be running 15" Pathfinders with 195 or 205/50/15 tires,so I probably have lots of room to play with if the wheels have to get moved out.

I do not plan on ever running anything bigger than a 15 or 16 on this truck, because my wheel choices are Pathfinders which I already have,or steelies and whitewalls,so I'm staying with smaller wheels.

Would you say the spindles would be my best choice in my case? I'm just trying to get everything figured out because I have the money in hand to go out and order my suspension components any day now.
