I would make the notch a little wider to be closer to the height of the frame. It looks like its only about 1 1/2" wide. Do you plan on cutting it out of plate and welding it together like the suicide doors notch or are you going to make it out of tube steel?

im going to use plate... when you say wider do which area are you talking about?

Is that autocad....are you having it laser cut and bent....because if you are I have like 10 notch designs that I have done in SW, I could give you some.

sw? solid works? i wasnt planing on having them done like that but i could... id like to see what you have atleast?

It looks like the side plates are only 1 1/2" based of the scale of the drawing.

yeah Solidworks....I find it waayy better than AC...at least more user friendly.

tell me what size like how tall of a notch you need and I will scale a couple out and email them to you....or post them up.

I could measure the notch I bought from SD and draw it up in CAD if you want me to.

With all the trouble your going to go thru with getting the right plate and having it cut, it might be better to buy a notch from SD or another vendor.

I know you were talking about using diamond plate, but covering the entire frame might be a little more difficult than you think. Also Mazdas arent know for their blinding speed and your going to add a lot of weight thats going to slow it down even more. Unless of course your doing a motor swap for something a little more powerful. Make sure your diamond plate is steel and not aluminum. An aluminum notch would be bad welded to a steel frame. lol
