I'm going to be driving my truck again soon (next week, maybe tomorrow). I'm going with a static drop until I get all the parts to bag my truck. I have everything for the front, just waiting on the rear parts now.

When I bought the truck the rear was set up with only the bottom leaf removed and a 4 inch block. I took the block out cause who ever did it didn't put the center bolt in and that caused the center pin on the block to shear off and cracked the block almost in half. I've put in a 2 inch block with a new center pin. The leafs are still together minus the bottom/overload spring.

Would I get a little more drop if I got overload springs and put them in and removed the others? I was going to have them dearched, but the spring shop here wants $25 per spring and I have 6 total and it was going to cost $150 plus tax. Not worth it when a wishbone is in the future.

Single leaf with overload is not my favorite way to go, but it works. Another option might be to keep only the top 2 springs. Try the setup, if it is to high, dearch only the bottom spring (maybe 50% reduction)($50.00 cost). Reassemble with the sheet metal clips at the ends and the center bolt. If its a little to low, cut down or remove 2" block.

I'll give that a try. So basically I'll have the main leaf and the leaf under it. I don't have my notch in yet so I don't want the axle hitting the frame. I just want it to sit about 2 inches lower without putting any more block under it.

It's not that big of a deal since it will be bagged this spring. I need to get a fuel cell and my link made up. That's the only parts stopping me from bagging it.

I saw an S-Dime yesterday with a Bag Over Axle setup that was also mono-leafed!

I guess that is a poorman's way of getting away without a 4-Link!

Just thought I would throw that in there!

I've run my other mazdas with all leafs removed except the overload. I've never run one this way before and who ever lowered the truck before I got it did it this way. I dont know what would be better, keeping the main and the next longest spring or getting another overload and putting that in there. I'll give it a try this weekend and see what happens.
