i want to twist my link bars like on a chopper frame. do i have to use solid bar steel? will heating them compromise the bars strength?

now for a dumb question...does anybody sell bars already twisted? cause id have to borrow a friends torch to do this and i dont want to got through a couple bottles of gas just to twist my bars..

make your four link out of chain =) kidding.... i think your safe heating them up as long as you dont quench them with oil or water..let them cool by themselves or else the metal will get brittle.

It should be fine, as long as you use the right OD solid stock, although it will be heavy as hell, which will affect handling.

Oh and most decorative railing metal places could probably do it for you, as I am sure they have ovens and some sort of lathe to twist the solid stock.,

that would be interesting to see, dont know about how strong it would be. it'd be fine on a bag over axle setup i bet.
