yep'rs, it ought to do the job very nicely, i have the pro-mig 140 which is almost exactly the same thing. you'll have to take your time on the thicker stuff, but other than that it's an excellent 120v welder!

cool, thanks

1/2 inch plate with a 120 v welder...hahahaha NO. You can do a notch with it, but make sure to use gas shielding, and use .035 wire.... Even then that welder is at the limit.

yea you gotta have the gas on the thick stuff..

volts arent as big of a deal as everyone plays them out to be. im in the process of getting taught by a certified professional welder and what you need to look at is the hertz. i weld with a 110 snap on and i burns in better than the majority of 220's ive used.

my 220 smokes any 110 ive ever used.

Yes the frequency matters but so does the output amperage, and that little welder puts out 135 A max.....to properly weld 3/16 steel you need between 160 - 190 amp output....

and to do 1/4 plate between 180 and 210...

Now in the product description the welder says it will do 1/2 inch plate....hahahah not bloody likely...to do 1/2 inch plate...guess how many amps output you need....cmon who wants to guess....try around 300 to 320....

That little welder barely puts out enoguh amps to weld 1/8 properly...

Now keep in mind that I am talking about single pass welds, but even with a double pass....there is no 110 volt welder that can put out enough amps and volts to properly do 1/4 plate...at least not as far as I have seen yet.
