any you guys try swapping our 6 lug hubs for toyota 5 lug hubs. The nissan guys do it all the time, and I was thinking that nissans and mazda have the same size hub. I got some isntructions on how to swap toyota hubs onto a nissan hardbody. I was just wondering if it would work on a mazda too, the only thing I see wrong would be the wheel bearings, if they would fit. The caliper can just be spaced either way to center it in the new toyota rotor.

sorry if this is a stupid question, I just didnt know if anyone has tried it or not.
thanks,
Mike

i've got the setup sitting around if interested. basically you have to redrill top and bottom to fit toyota spindle and change out tie rod ends.

oh I wasnt talking about using the toyota spindle, I know theorecticly how to do that, but suposidly on nissans, you can remove the part that slides onto the spindle, that has the 5 lug, and the wheel bearings go in it, and the rotor slide on it, I was just wondering if it owuld work on a mazda as well.

that part is called the hub.

ok, so I was calling it the right thing then, I might just have to go out to the wrecking yard and try it out there or something, maybe I will check with the parts people and see if the wheel bearings are the same, or close to the same size.

well, the wheel bearings are exactly the same from a 86 mazda b2000 as a 90 toyota pickup, So I think when I get some spare time I might run out to the wrecking yard and pick up the hubs from a 89-95 toyota and try and put them onto my mazda, if they do that would make a very cheap and easy to get parts for 5-lug swap. The only thing that would be pricey would be the rear end, but thats a diff mod.

ive never done it that way i swapped the spinlses..i have heard talses of play in the hubs once you switch them over...hell it would only be a 30 dollar experiment from the scrap yard

exactly, and if it works, can you imagine how much it would benifit the mazda truck guys, I wonder if a 4x4 toyota hub would swap with a 4x4 mazda hub, would be nice to have some bigger brakes that they make for toyotas on my 4x4 mazda.

if it works, I might check with a few suppliers and make big brake/5 lug kits for mazdas, could you imagine a 13" or 14" rotor, or bigger.

check to see that the 'offset' of the hub is the same too, otherwise the rotor and brake caliper might not line up right.
if its off, you can fab some new custom caliper mounts, but that's not the job for your average DIY'er. the front brakes are pretty important to not mess up!!!
