Buying a whole kit is cheaper than buying pieces but a system is up to what you want
here's my kit
4 slam specialties bags 1/2 inch ports
2 480 viair chrome compressors {might use 2 air zeniths that I have hidden away}
8 1/2 asco valves 300psi
3 kp gauges
avs 7 switch box
165 to 200 psi pressure switch
1/2 line dot approved
1/8 line dot approved
1 soleniod
2 water traps
2 toggle switches, fuses and wire
complete fittings in 1/2 and 1/8 dot approved
This kit that I have cost me so far about $1900 with the steel I have as well. I built my own 4 link, step notch and upper shock mounts, bag brackets were bought for the front and the back I am designing everything is out of 1/4 cold rolled steel and I have had every piece of steel lazer cut.
the steel is another thing some of it is easy to make on your own and some of it is cheaper in the long run to just buy. It all depends on how you want your ride and if you want lift build your 4 link so you can mount your bags on your lower bars then you can mount your bags anywhere on that bar and figure how high you want it.

Kits are cheaper and a lot of kits nowadays have a very good balance of good components. If you want a lof of lift do a small leverage setup out back, and position the bags as close to the frame as you can up front without rubbing.
