Sensor on the b2600I rear end?

Any one know WTF this is for? a sensor on the top of the rear end of the 2600I rear end. the only thing I could think of was maybe a speed sensor of some sort.. If not is it needed? gonna have to ditch it for the yota swap we are doing. Thanks..

its that piece that my static drop broke off...

thats the wheel speed sensor for your abs... the abs on these trucks is super primitive and really does nothing compared to newer systems..you will not notice a difference if you break it or disconnect it. however, a light will come on inside.
