curious of your opinions... 3" lowered leafs vs 3" blocks...

I know that it's 'supposed' to be a better ride with the lowered leafs, is it reallllly that much better??? ...

or ...

is it just an excuse to allow you to go lower with a static drop?? (meaning lowered leafs + lowering blocks)

a guy I know has a set of 3" leafs and he is continually telling me how much better the ride is.... I've been in his truck.. it doesn't seem better.. LOL

thanks
rob

The advantage with the lowered leafs is that the axel wrap is significantly less (axel twisting under acceleration or breaking). Ride quality can be adjusted with different shocks (some ride stiff, some don't). Putting something like a 5" block on the stock springs will create a dangerous amount of axel wrap. A 3" block is marginal. The real proble with a 3" block comes when you want to go a little lower and start removing leafs. Mono leaf and 3" blocks - bad!

some may say lowered leafs ride better than blocks because the leafs are softer...? dunno just a shot in the dark.

i got some lowered leafs if you are looking for some.

Immortal explained it very well. look at it this way, would you rather use body filler or have the metal reworked or replaced.....a block is a temporary solution to a perminate problem.....not to mention they do have a tendency to crack every-now-&-then...

I am, message me a price...

sorry to hijack the thread...

Is it safe to run the monoleaf, the longer support leaf, and the overloader, and leave out the single short support leaf?

im going with 3 inch bellteck springs with three inch blocks and a notch on my dailey

mrbbs, you can run a re-stacked set of springs, but just not the single leaf with the eyes on the end, even though the truck doesn't weigh much, it still needs more support than that single leaf can provide, usually peeps just run that leaf, one slightly longer out of the leaf pack, and the overload.....that will give you approx the same drop as the belltech's...

thats where i was heading, along with 3" blocks... thanks guys, this forum is soooooooo helpful

you'll be about the same height as todd, with just the leafs, you'll have maybe 3" of clearance above the axle tube to the bottom of the frame, so if your gonna run the 3" blocks too, your gonna need to notch the frame....
