Thats pretty normal for a 12V compressor. There are certain operating temperatures they are comfortable with. Metal shrinks with extreme cold, meaning the cylinder wall is tighter ont he piston. And the working heat it creates at first slowly heats the metal letting it expand to a workable state once again. If you're worried about it, point a heat gun at the head on the mornings its real cold. Too much stress on it too often can potentially cause damage. I don't know how cold it gets up there, but if below freezing, I would warm it up prematurely.
