My truck is driving really shi**y. It darts from left to right, it bumpsteers, sometimes the wheel is hard to turn, sometimes really easy. I don't know what's going on. It's got 4 new tie rods and adjusters, new (flipped) balljoints, new idler and pitman arm. I completely cut off my bumpstop brackets, re-indexed the torsions, put on shorter shocks and trimmed the upper shock mount to keep the upper control arm from hitting it. I have one of the inner fenders cut out and I'm working on getting the other one out I can see where the pitman and idler have been rubbing my strut rods. It also looks like my shocks are leaning but I can't remember which way. I'll get some pics of the front suspension from different angles tomorrow.

When I had it aligned the camber was pretty close to being even on both sides. He said the caster was off very little too. It's pretty scary to drive because you never know what to expect. Sometimes it seems fine though. The only things I can think of are maybe something with the strut rods or the control arm bushings. Anybody have any other ideas? I really don't want to raise it back up. Here are a few pics.

That back has got to come down to match the front too!

Dont drink and drive, that makes my truck steer funny too

but sounds like your steering is dragging across your strut rods. Might have to raise it a touch or look into fabbing some new strut rods.

that sounds like the same problem im having but mine is just the driver side lol good luck and im fo sho going to watch this thread lol the bad thing is that my bro's is 3/4 inch lower then mine with no torsion bars and stock shocks and dont have that problem

My first truck I just backed the torsion bolts completely out. I didn't know any better. I even left the bars in it. They drug on everything. I was driving through a parking lot and one just fell out. Looking back now I'm glad they didn't fall out while I was driving. They could have done some serious damage to my truck or even worse someone else's vehicle.

It rode horrible and the pitman and idler drug across the strut rods really bad. They cut about 3/8 of an inch out of the strut rods. But it drove a lot better than this one does. It was very predictable and handled great. Can't say the same about the ride quality though.

Look for simpler solutions first. How about ur tire pressure. Also if u r running directional tires they will sometimes make ur truck drive squirrely.Front bearings been replaced at the proper tension? It probably is a mechanical bind somewhere but these other things cause poor driveability as well.BJ

Ok, I've got some pics now.

Here's the passenger side with the wheel cut all the way to right. You can see were the idler arm is rubbing the strut rod.

Here's what I was saying about the shock looking like it's leaning.

Here's some shots of the driver's side with the wheel cut all the way to the left.

Here's where the pitman has been rubbing the strut rod.

I need to make a trip to the car wash in the worst way. Everythings covered in oil and grease.

When I got my truck, it kind of done the same drifting back and forth thing. Come to find out, the jackass didn't tighten the U-bolts on the rear. May not help you out any though.

Mine turns like shit to the left but great to the right? Always has, any clues? sorry to interrupt your thread.

I think the bumpsteer is just a combo of low profile directional tires that likes to follow road tracks and control arm/tie rod geometry at an awkward position.

As far as hard to turn one day and easy the next, could be your power steering pump if your truck is equipped with one or a slightly slipping power steering belt.

If your truck has manual steering, I don't know what to tell you unless your rubbing issues are that bad, which I doubt. I never had issues with my pitman or idler arm rubbing the support rod, and the truck was bagged.

Like hobj mentioned, have you checked tire pressures? You'd be surprised.

check for bindong uppers and a broken belt in your tire..also check the control arm bushings
