Having a problem with my pinion angle. was wondering if anyone could help me. i have a reversed four link . what do i need to set it at ride height to minimize the vibration im getting and to keep from having to replace my carriers so much ...right now i cant ride with it locked all the way up with out it vibrating like hell ...........so any suggestions would be cool

you have to get the angle of the transmission and the angle of the carrier bearing and then you can figure what angle the pinion needs to be set at at ride height

Ok, here ya go... The easiest way to set the angles is to change where the carrier bearing sits so that it comes STRAIGHT out of the transmission with NO angle, the you can treat the second shaft as a single shaft... F.E. if the angle that the shaft goes up after the carrier bearing is 3 degrees, then the angle that the axle sits at at ride height should be 3 degrees in the oppsite direction.... make sense???


But you probably dont want to move your carrier bearing so unless i'm mistaken this is what you do to find the angle using stock carrier bearing mount.....First you find the angle that the shaft is at coming out of the transmission... say its 5 degrees down.... then at the carrier bearing, the angle goes up 3 degrees.... so the pinion should be set at 2 degrees up.... Someone correct me if I'm wrong.... you want the angles to equal the trans output shaft angle... so carrier bearing angle of 3 degrees plus the axle angle of 2 degrees = trans output shaft angle of 5 degrees....

ok this is fairly simple to do
the transmission and the rear end should be at the same angle
first off go get an angle gauge from a home depot or a parts store
i got mine from harbor freight
here is what it looks like

then get the angle off of your trans measure this at the output shaft yoke
should be like 3+ degrees or so
then set your rear end at the same angle only (negative)-3 degrees measure this at the pinion yoke
this is a great starting point

He needs to know for a 2 piece driveshaft though.... not set the same way as that^^^ Its a lil more complicated

ah ok sorry forgot to add the one step involved in doing a 2 piece driveshaft.
Use your magnetic angle finder and attach it to the FRONT drive shaft. Record the front drive shaft angle. Next, attach the angle finder to the pinion flange. Record the angle. Subtract the pinion flange angle from the front drive shaft angle to get your net pinion angle.
