power steering

i have a 91 b2200 it shakes in the steering wheel. the power steering was taken out and just a line ran from the output to input. would it cause this? IF SO if any one is close to iowa and would want to trade boxes as i dont need power steering, but if that is not the cause what else would it be? sorry if this is the right place for the thread

That shouldn't cause a shake, but I would replace the steering box with a manual out of an '86. '87-'93 did not come with a manual steering option. Check the front components (tie rods, ball joints, pitman and idler arms) also you can check your rotors to see if they are true. I have never seen someone just run a bypass hose, but it sounds mickey moused to me. Good luck Bro -ED

i have a power box with no hoses or anything. it does fine. i had an 88 and it was a manual.

That's weird Mikey, if you look up a manual steering box on any of the parts sites they don't even offer them. But, when I had a buddy at a local parts store check around he found that the manual box only showed up in the computer on '86. I wonder if your '88 had been swapped? Anyway, I wouldn't recommend running one wide open or bypassed if you can run to the local bone yard and swap for a few bucks or nothing if they will trade you out for your P/S box. -ED

mazdawg do you just have it blocked off with bolts or just open? i'll just check all that dropped said and just do what yours has if it runs fine. theres really n problem now i just dont like the shake, steers fine and goes down the road straight if i let go of the wheel

its just wide open. no hoses, no block offs, no bolts. im lazy...lol i wonder if the shake is coming from some unbalanced wheels?
