ok now I've been trying to figure this whole backspace and offset thing out but i just don't get it. i have a chance at getting an s10 rear axle for $50. and i wanted to know if i can fit it in the back the mazda with some s10 extreme wheels? if yes how much would i have to narrow the front to get the same wheels to fit in the front?? thanx in advance

Im not sure the backspacing of s10 wheels but thats alot of work to fit a crappy bolt pattern. . 4x4.75 sucks. . haha. . hard to find good wheels for. . but if you want it, go for it. . Anything is possible

well i figured if i can get the s10 wheels to fit then i can just buy wheels that fit 2wd s10. they there is alot of good looking s10 wheels out there. plus i really like the deep dish look. i guess it all depends on how much i have to narrow the front. i dont wanna have to narrow it to much. plus it would be cheaper than having a ranger or toyota rear axle narrowe

You dont have to have the toyota axle narrowed. . Thats part of the appeal of yota axles is that they are narrower. . And I believe seth narrowed a yota axle and he said the splines on the axle shaft were cut so far down the shaft that he jus cut an inch off each and shortened the axle housings and the shafts still slid right in. . i know s10 axles arent that easy. . abd s10 axles have a casy bellhousing. . unlike yota. . But go for it if thats what you wanna try. . i have never seen it done. .

like josh said.. you can't weld to the housing on an s10 rearend, it's cast. technically you can, but it's got to be heated correctly, and done with the proper tools, which still doesn't mean it'd be correct. get a toyota rearend, and be done.
