Do you guys adjust your Torsion Bars while the truck is on jack stands or sitting on the tires?
If I break the adjustment bolt, where can I get a replacement one?

I put my front-end back together except for getting the ball joints seated. I really don't want to have to re-do anything having to do with those, so I am waiting until I am completely ready to drop the truck on the tires before I set those joints.

Thanks.

You MUST jack the truck up and get the tires off the ground. You can get them from mazda, Id suggest a few days of spraying them with PB blaster before trying to adjust them.

I have pulled them completely out and replaced the bars and re-greased the spines on both ends. They turn pretty freely, though I have not tired to tighten them yet... I guess we will just see how it goes.

Thanks for the info.

how do you know (other than the obvious of your suspension suddenly dropping and not coming back up...lol), when you have loosened (lowered the vehicle)the torsion bars too much? im talked non-reindexed setup... or is there a point where the bolt will stop turning and thats a fine and dandy safespot? (theres enough thread left in the mount) lol

and is it possible that they could loosen them selves over time, dropping the front a lil each time a big bump is hit? lol mine turned fairly easily... but they have been touched before, and i had a 1' breaker bar... like they are not super easy to turn... but i'm just curious

it is best to jack the truck up and put jack stands under THE FRAME, you dont want a bolt to break while your under it, the bolt isn't going to stop backing out, it will back out completely, it just depends on how low you want to go, eventually the lca will hit the bump stop, also depending on the tire size the tire will hit the fender well causing it to rub pretty hard, never heard of the bolts backing out by themselves

Yeah, you should be pretty safe with the bolts staying where they are... The old Toyotas used to have a second nut that you tighten down on the nut that we have, but they did away with it by about '89 or '90.

I did end up adjusting my bars last night and it was actually pretty easy. I was gaining an inch every 3 turns (since I am going up instead of down).

the only thing that I was concerned about was that I know the "V" that was closing by tightening the adjustment was getting pretty close to closing. I would think it would be pretty hard to tell when the "V" closed.

I wonder if I need to reindex going up as well.... I guess I will have to start driving it some to see how the ride is...
