Hey guys, I figured you guy would know better than most. I want to lower the truck a little bit when I do the motor swap. Not much, but a little bit. I was thinking I'd just put the rear end on top of the leafs, but I don't know if *this is a good idea when stepping up to either a v6 or v8, or how to level the front (provided the motor weight doesn't bring it down low enough. I don't want to remove leafs since this truck is going to be carrying around dirt bikes and snowmobiles once in a while. How can I go about this? Like I said, no blocks just flipping the rear end and leveling the truck.

Edited for poor punctuation.

Ummm..... have you looked under the rear of your truck? it's axle over spring from the factory. depending on what your going to want for lowered in the rear, you could put the overload spring on top an have it un arch the packs to lower it a little, or have the spring packs de-arched, or belltech leafs

haha just checked it out. I was talking to the previous owner an he thought it was axle over spring, and I haven't actually checked out the truck too much yet. With a V6 or V8 i guess I can't go with lowering blocks right?

that shouldn't be a problem if you use good blocks. plus you will want to check that the u-bolts are torqued, after about 50-100 miles, and then about 500 miles, or what ever that is in kilometers...lol

but in all honesty block stay in place on big jacked up 4x4's with enormous mud tires with v-8 power and no issue's, it's all in the quality and making sure there torqued down.

I was thinking more about axle wrap when I walk on it. haha

Just put some 2" blocks in it and you'll be fine. It'll hardly even make a difference.

sweet. and what about the front? would flipping the ball joints be enough to level it?

turning down or reindexting the torsions up front...

blocks in the rear, or bell tech leafs, or de arching the ones on the truck, or removing some of the leafs from the spring pack, all will work well when installed properly, sure you'll get a little wrap with the blocks, but you will too with a set of bell's, or a set that has been dearched or has a few leafs removed....that is just a facto because of the extra torque a v6 or v8 will afford you....now you can compensate for the loss of load rating by putting on a set of coil overs, or a set of air shocks......or a set of mini helper bags....

on the front, a little cranking on the torsions, and maybe reindexing them to gain some of the spring rate back while giving it a lowered stance.....just make sure you do the same amount on both sides or it'll have a nice lean to it...

Or you could build/buy a traction bar to combat axle wrap.
