Hey, just wondering if anyone knows how to fix this problem. other than using 4x4 sheet metal. My truck is bagged in the back on 17s w/ low profile tires, whenever i air it out, the tires are rubbing the bed sides and causing the paint to melt and peel (i have the inside of the bed cut out for the tires, ). I was at the Dropt Out show in OHio last year and there was a Mazda there, with 2wd bed and fenders and same size tires/wheel combo and had about a whole inch worth of gap between the bed and tires completely layed out. Is there anything else that can be done, besides 4x4 sheet metal or shortening the axle?? I could have sworn the guy that had that truck said something bout taking something off the bed. Thanks!

There are only two ways to fix this. 1) narrower axel, early Mazdas and Datsuns have narrower axels. 2) change the off-set of the wheels.

Did you ask the owner? I would bet that he has an early axel under the truck.

By the looks of it he is running eskies. I didn't think that they were a problem? Maybe just a flare in the sides would work?

hey might be running spacers to make the wheels fit. he may either need to get the wheels machined or grind hubs to get the wheels to fit closer.
