Question is simple... Best (not the cheapest) way to achieve a 4 to 5 inch drop with 17 or 18s with the most wheel to fender clearance? I have been around Chevys to long but venturing over to the Mazda world slowly... I have read about indexing, flipping balljoints, and spindles to the point that Im confused. I want a good handling ride with minimal minituck bounce.

Also, what about 5 lug conversions? What is involved with that?

Questions, Questions, I have many but thanks in advance for the help!!!

heres is a place already talking about the yota 5 lug swap. it explains alot

now to get lower you want to reindex your torsions. and remove two leaf springs or get a set of drop springs.you can get them at most websites. run low pros for the extra clearence. and you shouldnt get that bounce with reindexing and the drop leafs. but thats just my 2 cents. lol.

And if you don't mind me asking, Since we are already on the subject.
How much drop can you get before components start to rub, and so forth?

to reindex the torsion bars you simply remove the bar and rotate it 2 or 3 splines. that makes it so you can loosen the bars which will lower the truck without the the bracket at the rear of the bar hanging down. probably the first thing to rub will be your tie rods rubbin on the stabilizer rod.

im gonna throw this out there, paparoach ive seen you post several times about suspension and other questions that concern with driving your truck. the only mazda ive seen you own is that swapped standard cab you bought that doesnt see the road. am i wrong on that and if im right, how can you give advice on stuff you have no experience on? i just dont like people giving out bunk information. people come here to get straight answers and the only way to give the right answer is to have had hands on experience of the topic.

Ok i am new to the site but I have had my mazda since 1995 and in that time its been redone atleast 4 times. Its currently bagged and the setup has ran 2 years on the road no problems with about 20,000 miles on it.
wanna check it out go to: . Getting a mazda down safely and without suspension bind is rather simple. Drop spindles will instantly give you 2 inches with a slight over correction on camber and it corrects ball joint angles(have to run atleast a 16" wheel with these due to tierod clearance issues and you may have to buff the tie rod ends with a flap disk depending on the inner structure of the wheel). Lower drop control arm will give you an additional 3 inches and you can flip the ball joints to give you another 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch and 16" wheels with low profile tires (40 series) is good for about 2 more inches over stock package. Thats a total of 7 1/2" to 7 3/4" drop from stock height with no modification to the front suspension travel (It will ride like a stock truck does minus stiffer handling and a bit stiffer bounce due to low profile tires). If you want to go lower after that you can index the torsion bars a 1/4 turn to gain another 2 inches of drop with out significant change to ride comfort. The rear is simple 4" blocks remove all of the leaf springs except your main spring and the short overload spring(this will keep the main spring from over flexing and losing its spring strength) for a total of 6 or 7 inches of drop . Low profile tires in the back also same size as the front give you another 2 inches. For a total drop of 8 to 9 inches. You will need to remove the bump stops from the rear axle (big rubber things on top of axle underneath U bolts) and put a 2" or 3" Bolt in C-Notch in the frame to prevent the axle from contacting the frame(leave the bed on while doing the notches to keep the frame supported and make sure your jack stands are under of the rear axle in the back to put even weight on the frame to help prevent it from flexing). The entire drop can be done in 6 or 8 hours if you are an experienced mechanic the average do it yourselfer can do it in a weekend. The result of this drop will be a frame height from the ground of about 2 to 3 inches. If you want to be higher off the ground you can always run bigger tires.

Your right you dont know. i aint trying to start shiv but i feel that ppl dont trust me. so i have owned 3 mazdas and have been driving them for over 10 years now. this is the first time i have not had a minitruck with some suspension changes. i feel i am "Qualified" to give my oipinion and therfore still be accreditted
for my 2 cents. the three trucks i have had were a 79 datsun king cab, two 89 mazda b2200, and now my 91 standard cab. MY opologies for coming off as an @ss. that is not my intentions. just giving my opinion doesnt feel like i need a phd in something to say it. but hopefully this will clear things up a bit.

word i see where youre coming from. i just dont like people just throwing info out there like diahrea of the mouth when they have stock trucks or nothing for us to show that they know anything. sorry for the neggativity, just didnt wanna steer the new people wrong.
