I just scored a set of 08 Chevy rims from a local used tire guy. I got the rims and tires for $180. How hard is it to cut the tabs so they will fit? Or can I use a spacer to get the wheel out past them? I'll post a pic of the wheels if I can figure out how to.

Its not hard just make sure you put the lug nuts back on to cover the lugs so you don't nick them with the grinder.

grind the tabs off you can use spacers i ground my rears and used spacers on the front

dont grind tabs get the wheels bored out to match your truck the tabs are there to hold the wheel in place and take the weight off the bolts

Out of 20 so cars I have owned and 400 ive worked on this is the first ever to have tabs.. and this has the most lugs out of all of them. There is no reason why you should ruin some wheels just because you think you need to keep these. They are overkill for a mini.

well you do it your way but I have been working on minis and doing custom work for a long time and if you get the rims properly machined you will not wreck the rims and actually alot of cars and trucks have some thing like tabs to hold the wheel and support the wheel from stressing the bolts.

I was looking at drums and rotors at Autozone and Advance and all the pics of replacement rotors didn't have any tabs on them. I'm going tomorrow to look at them in person to see if the oics are right. If they don't have the tabs on them I'll probably just buy new ones all the way around. I can replace all 4 for around $100.

The tabs are not on the rotors, they are on the hubs which sits in front of the rotors.

Heres a writeup I just found.. step by step.

I got the tires and rims the other day and got the tabs ground off. I'll try to get some pics up later today. The 17's look much better than the stock 14's. Thanks for the help guys!
