hey all a buddy of mine bagged my mazda in november with a 4 link setup in the rear and right now weve got the shocks mounted on the lower bar of the link and the top attached to a cross member we welded on the top of the C notch heres a picture of it

thread post photo

the first time we just used generic bolts that we welded on to the bottom bar as a mount eventually the bolt bent and then snapped off of the bar right at the base of the head and left the head welded on the bar
when that happend we went out and bought some grade 8 bolts and did the same thing thinking that we wouldnt have this problem again seeing as grade 8 shouldnt of done this!! well they did only one this time but it was a bit different the bolt didnt bend at all the other ones really bent first then broke!! i looked at the bolt that broke and there is no indication of a bend anywhere and it clean snapped from the base of the head

does anyone know what we can do for a rear bottom shock mount keeping the shock where it is ??? different type of bolt?? tabs location how to cut out the tabs?!?!?!

anything!>?!?!?!?!!?

U can buy a relocator set from
suicidedoors there is a kit that comes with the mounts that weld to the bottom of ur Axel and tabs for ur bars
if u have a bridge kit. Sparky vice prez of dragginforce used ones he cut off a extra Mazda truck we had laying around and used the stock mounts on the top of the frame. So basicly he used the top shockounts and cut 2 more off another truck and welded them on to the bottom of his 4 link bar that's welded under his Axel.

I would suggest grinding those welds off the 4 link and drill holes through them for a longer bolt. Now get a hold of some dom pipe and use it as a spacer if needed to keep it off the bar. weld the piece of pipe to the link bar. Try to find something with a very close inner diameter as the bolt you will use. As for bolts that will not bend or break from now on, find a heavy equipment dealer like caterpillar and get bolts from them. They have a black grade of bolt that puts grade 8 to shame, I cant remember the grade but there are tough.

Also un bolt the upper bolt and raise and lower the suspension and see if the shock can be moved towards that upper mount. I had the same problem with my link shock setup on my yota I am building but it just snapped the lower shock eyelet clean off.

edit: it would be better to run that piece of dom all the way through the link bar
