Ok so I was looking at the ball joints on my 75' Courier and I was wondering would I gain anything from putting my lower ballpoint on top of my lower control arm and facing upwards??

That is my plan on mine. Then move the upper control arm up the same amount to take care of geometry problems. It looks to me like you will gain close to 3" if not maybe a little more. I talked to some shops and they said go with a quality balljoint(no ebay chinese junk), because it will be tension instead of compression. You will have to have your spindle taper changed. It looked to me like you could just move the tie rods from the top to the bottom to take care of steering geometry. I don't think the 14"s will fit anymore, but it 15"s might.

This is the conclusions I have come to from what I have measured on mine, other opinions may different from mine, but chances are they are wrong.

I don't know about a 3" drop. But you will at least get 1-2" of a drop. Thats what we did on my 83. I need to get more pictures of my front suspension to help some of you guys. I been getting messages but no time to get on.

Really, it sure looks like more from my rough measurements. You flipped your balljoint so it pointed up instead of down? I guess I never saw that in your thread, and I read the whole thing. That is a little disappointing that it isn't more.

Damn that's a lot of reading, thanks for taking the time to do it though. I really need to update that, thanks for reminding me. I will do that tomorrow, once I got to the point I could drive it I stopped with updates.

Give me until tomorrow after noon. I should have pictures to answer a lot of questions.

Yes it was! I also read through fattirebycycles entire thread. So you did end up flipping them ove? I was wondering why more people didn\'t it looked easy and like a fair amount of drop. I just need to get my spindles into the machine shop(I used to work there so he usually doesn\'t even charge me).

Yes I moved them from the bottom to the top. Gave me at least 2". I wish it did give me 3" my camber wouldn't be near as bad. I'm going to get a shower and such and run outside and take a couple more pics and some videos to help some of you guys out.

What size wheels are you running?

I am talking about making the balljoint actually point up instead of down. Not just moving it from the bottom to the top of the control arm. The spindle taper will have to be changed and the tie rods addressed.

No I just moved them from the bottom to the top.

Oh, that explains the difference. I looking into pointing them up. It wont be as simple but should net a nice drop.
