Hey guys

About a week ago I wound down my torsions bars in the front of my 86 (long bed) to match the front with the back.

Probably wound it down maybe an inch on the bolt under the chassis.. Which brought the front down to about an inch or so clearance for the tire to the frame..

Recently, last couple of days a really loud squeeky noise is coming from somewhere.. It only happens when going over bumps. Unfortunately where i live the roads are terrible so I want this fixed!.

I first thought it was the shocks cause i didnt replace them when lowering... But they have about 3" movement before topping out. The noise sounded like it was coming from the front... but now not so sure..

IF anyone could shed some light, that would be awesome..

Cheers.

possibly just the bushings in the control arms squeaking.try spraying them down with some kind of grease or something!

and if your roads are as bad as you say, and you want your truck lowered right and not have to worry about hitting a pothole and destroying one of your torsion bar knuckles where that bolt is that you loosened... you need to mark your torsion bars, remove them, turn a couple teeth and re insert and tighten your bolts to keep the knucks off the ground. that will also tighten up your suspension, but keep you lowered.

if you go to les schwaab with it lowered like that, when they do an alignment they will reset the bolts back to the original spot, if you have "re keyed" your torsions, they wont mess with your height setting. its dangerous to leave the knuckles down like that... i know a guy who hit a pothole, ripped the knuckle out, and lost the entire torsion bar going down the freeway... his werent hanging that low... his truck was just that slammed...

Yeah, Ive got a mate coming around to do it with me when we both have some spare time.... he wants to learn how to do it for his corona and well, always good to have a helping hand..

I had a look again today and my left shock is missing the nut for the bolt on the bottom attachment, replacing it tomorrow, hopefully that will fix the problem...

Ill still let you guys now..
