from the looks of those welds... id say get some one who KNOWS how to weld to come over and do it right... that doesnt look safe to me at all....

your connection points dont look safe at all
you need a front crossmember
and your front lower mounts just dont look safe at all

I know. Im going to re work it. I was wanting any ideas on keeping it simple but safe. Im going to redo the bridge for the uppers as for the lowers I am unsure.

I'm really not sure how to post pics so check out my website. Look under projects, 1990 S-10, and looks at the pics I have up of his rear suspension. First thing to do is get welding down! I would make your upper bars longer so they reach the mounting cross member. That will eliminate the "reese hitch" type thing you have hanging off the cross member. Make your cross member one piece. Not only will it will make the cross member stronger but it will also eliminate alot of the plate work that I see holding the lower mounts in place. ***Ok I figured out how to post pics but check out my site anyways, theres alot more pictures.***

Looking at the pictures again it appears that the lower cross member mounts are closer to the axle than the upper cross member mounts. Is that why you had to add the extension mount to the upper bars? If so make a new one piece cross member and connect all four bars to it instead of making the upper bars longer.
