I just got a wild hair up my ass and got to thinking about coil over suspensions. After some googling I found that the weight differences between a 99 civic si (2612lbs) and a standard cab short bed b2200 (2725lbs) isn't far off. So what if someone got there hands on a stock strut/spring combo off of a civic and welded mounts to the b? obviously I would eliminate the front torsion and rear leaf springs and rely souly on the struts/springs. There is a huge aftermarket for coilovers for the Honda struts. Whats your guys opinion on this?

Struts are NOT a performance part. They were designed primarily to save money in manufacturing.
Also, they are only used on cars that are unibody construction.

Without trying to offend you, it's a bad idea.
Or at least one with so much work involved to do it safely, you'd likely give up on it after you've ruined your truck.

No offense taken. A civic with silly speakers in the back weighs the same as our trucks. That suspension is designed to hold that weight. The danger area only lies in the fabrication of mounts to me. After some more thinking I'm pretty sure the hardest part would be fitting the long strut/spring in the existing space, they are pretty long. It was a wild hair, maybe it would work, maybe it wouldn't, But if it did work you could have a full adjustable coil over set up, with shocks for under $200..give or take with fab costs
