Alright I am sure I am not the only one that dissagrees with the decals that came on the mid 80's decals. i just got my truck and it is brown with one of thies decals on it. I want to remove it to paint the truck but cant remove the sticky residu. I found out that razorblades take off the decal but cant get the sticky residy off. I tried, bulldog, fingerpolish remover. goo gone, grinders (but this makes the panals uneven). and sand paper. does any one know of a method that workes based on experience thanks. you can sand it off, just take a couple minutes, or i use a paint remover called Aircraft Remover....that stuff works like magic, you can buy it in a spray can or in a bucket...just put it on, wait about 10 min, then scrape it off, it will take all the paint and everything off down 2 bare metal!!!

usually bug remover will remove adhesives like that. can be rough on paint if your not careful though.

my new bed has one of those on it and i asked the a guy at work how to remove it (he is a body and paint guy) he said a heat gun it removed all of the decal and most of the glue i then just rubed the glue with my tumb and it came off

thanks for all your input. I just tried the 3M wax and adhesive remover and that didn't really work but I am off again for more goodies to remove this garbage. thanks again Neil

i need to take off my graphics also, im just worried about the paint being an uneven white where the graphics used to be. think that'll be a problem?

yes their is a difference between the oxidized paint and the paint under the decal. my mazda is brown (now the whole thing is primer grey) and that might make a difference rather then white but it was really freshley painted looking under the decal and oxidized as he!! everywhere else. I went to an industrial finishes place and got adhesive remover in a spray can for $6 a can and it only took one. goo gone, 3M wax and adhesive remover in a flask like can both dont work. sanding took for ever for a square inch. my friend used an electric sanding pad and took off everything even paint but left small scratches every where which need to get filled in. so I still recomend the adhesive remover I believe it was 3M brand the can was white and red. but before you use it scrape off the decal with a razor blade, I got mine from a house paint shop for $0.50. good luck to everyone who tries to do this its a pain.
